Creating and Managing a Route

What is a Route?

In Viratrip, a route is a geolocated track that you draw on a map. It can be associated with an event to guide participants with GPS navigation.

A route contains:

  • A track with ordered waypoints
  • Automatic statistics (distance, elevation, estimated duration)
  • A privacy level (All club members, Administrators only)
  • Tags for categorisation
  • Optional photos

Creating a Route from the Map

From the Web

  1. Sign in at app.viratrip.com
  2. Go to Routes > + Create a route
  3. The map editor opens

Placing Waypoints

On the map, click to place each waypoint in order. The app automatically traces the road between points following existing roads.

  • Address search: use the search bar to precisely locate a point
  • Satellite view: switch to satellite view to identify scenic small roads
  • Move a point: click and drag an existing waypoint
  • Delete a point: click the point, then the delete icon
  • Insert a point: click on the track to add an intermediate waypoint that you can drag to reposition

Statistics (distance, duration) update in real time with each change.

Waypoints and Points of Interest

A waypoint is a marker positioned on the route. They define the track and the app calculates the road path between them.
