Privacy modes

Viratrip offers privacy modes for clubs, events, and routes. These modes control who can see and access club content.

Club privacy

A club can be Private, Protected, or Public.

For a private club:

Only validated members and invited users can see the club
The club does not appear in search results
Users must be invited by an administrator or the owner to join the club

For a protected club:

Any user can see the club’s information (name, description, location)
To join the club, the user must submit a membership request, which must be validated by an administrator or the owner
Internal content (events, private routes) remains accessible only to validated members
Users can be invited by an administrator or the owner to join the club

For a public club:

Any user can see the club’s information
Any user can join the club directly, without prior validation
Club events and routes are visible according to their own privacy setting

How to change a club’s privacy mode?

Only the owner or an administrator can change a club’s privacy from the club settings.

In the web app, click on Home, then on the Edit Club button.
In the mobile app, select the Clubs menu then select your club from the list, tap the Details button then the Edit Club button.

Tip : If you change a club from public to private/protected, users who had already joined without an invitation remain validated members. Only new joiners will be subject to the private/protected mode restrictions.

Event privacy

An event can be Private or Public.

For a private event:

Only club members can see and participate in the event

For a public event:

Club members can see and participate in the event
An event code is visible on the event page
Any authenticated or anonymous user with the event code can see the event and register for it

Info : If you have participants in your event who are not members of your club, a **public** event allows you to give them the event code without making them club members.

How to change an event’s privacy mode?

The creator of the event can change its privacy during creation or from the event settings. Club administrators can also edit club events.

Route privacy

Route privacy can be All club members or Administrators only.

For a route accessible to club members:

All club members can see the route in the club’s route list
Only administrators can edit or delete the route

For a route accessible to administrators only:

Only administrators can see the route in the club’s route list

Important : Once a route is part of an event, all users with access to the event will be able to see the route, even if it has an *administrators only* privacy setting.

How to change a route’s privacy mode?

The creator of the route can change its privacy during creation or from the route settings. Club administrators can also edit club routes.
